QUEENS — Firefighters battling a car fire in Jamaica Thursday made a startling discovery — the body of a man inside the vehicle, officials said.
The firefighters responded to the burning Ford Crown Victoria in front of 147-03 111th Ave. about 11:15 a.m. and found the body of the 57-year-old man inside, fire and police officials said.
Cops didn't suspect foul play, police said. Sources said the man committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
The man, who was a Queens resident, will not be identified until cops can tell his family about his death, police said.
The car fire has been extinguished, but fire marshals were on scene to investigate, an FDNY spokesman said.
