QUEENS — A car crash on Long Island Rail Road tracks in Queens stalled some service on the commuter rail Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Two cars collided on the tracks at 5602 Maspeth Ave., near Rust Street, about 7:40 a.m., stopping trains on the LIRR’s Montauk Line in both directions, the FDNY said.
The individuals involved in the crash were pulled from the wreckage and one victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital with minor injuries, fire officials added.
It was not immediately clear what caused the smashup, officials said.
The crash did not affect any westbound serivce, as few trains operate on the line during the morning and evening rush, the MTA said.
One Port Jefferson-bound train leaving the Jamaica station at 8:19 a.m. was delayed about 10 minutes, the agency added.
