BROOKLYN — A married couple who ran a Brooklyn driving school has been hit with fraud charges after allegedly helping an undercover agent cheat on the written portion of the driving test, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

Ying Wai Phillip Ng and his wife, Pui Kuen Ng, both 47, who ran N&Y Professional Service Line in Sunset Park, were nabbed after outfitting the agent with a jacket containing a hidden camera that flashed test questions to an assistant in a van, according to court papers.

The assistant would then read the test off a TV screen in the van and beep correct answers back to the test taker, according to court papers.

A man who prosecutors believe received his license through N&Y drove the Sky Express Inc. bus that crashed in Virginia in May, killing four people and injuring several others.

Prosecutors said the couple helped the undercover agent cheat in exchange for $1,800.

“We must be able to trust that those who drive buses and trucks on our nation’s highways meet stringent standards for safety and competency. Lives depend upon it,” said Loretta E. Lynch, the United States Attorney in Brooklyn.

If convicted, the defendants face up to 20 years in prison.
