MANHATTAN — The city wants to help you seal the deal this Valentine's Day with a new app.

The NYC Condom Finder will let Big Apple lovebirds use their smartphones to find free condoms at almost 1,000 locations around the five boroughs.

You can use your phone's GPS or manually enter your location and the app will give you a list of the five closest NYC Condom distributors as well as either walking, driving or public transportation directions to the sites.

“New Yorkers are mobile, so we need to reach them both with sexual health information and easy access to service information wherever they are,” said Dr. Thomas Farley, New York City Health Commissioner, in a statement.

Farley added that the city has been successful in getting people to take the free protection

“We distributed well over 36 million male condoms and 1 million female condoms last year," he said.

The app works with all smartphones, including Windows and Blackberry platforms, according to the Health Department.

You can find the free app through searching "NYC Condom" through smartphone app market.

The free condom initiative started in 1971, with the health department distributing the condoms at STD clinics. The program now partners with more than 3,500 venues in the five boroughs.
