MANHATTAN — Celebrities and designers will throw their weight behind President Barack Obama's reelection campaign with a fundraiser and Fashion Week party Tuesday night.
Tastemaker Anna Wintour and actress Scarlett Johansson will host the "Runway to Win" event at the Theory clothing store at 40 Gansevoort St. at 6 p.m Tuesday, according to the event's website.
More than 23 designers and celebrities who created pro-Obama apparel and accessories for Runway to Win — including Beyonce, Puff Daddy, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg and Vera Wang — may attend the event, a statement from Obama's campaign press office said.
Obama will not attend the fundraiser, a spokesman for his campaign confirmed.
Tickets to the sold-out party range from $250 per person for admission to the cocktail reception to $2,500 per person for a seat at the dinner table, according to the event's Facebook page.
The Washington Post panned the Runway to Win line, calling it "blandly patriotic" and "uninspired." The items, which range in price from $45 to $95 each, are available on Obama's website.
Wintour, a Village resident, is one of Obama's top fundraisers and has raked in at least $500,000 for the president's reelection, according to data the campaign released Jan. 31.
Johansson has thrown her political muscle behind expected mayoral candidate Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer.
