UPPER EAST SIDE — An out-of-control SUV driver fled after causing a multi-vehicle accident on the FDR Drive that left one passenger dead early Tuesday, police said.

Cops are hunting for the SUV's driver.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. when the white SUV, headed north on the highway, hit a vehicle at E. 84th Street, police said. That vehicle bounced into two northbound cars.

A passenger in one of the cars, a 2001 Toyota Camry, was taken to Metropolitan Hospital, police said. The 31-year-old passenger, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

There were no other injuries.

The driver of the SUV drove away, police said.

Police did not provide further descriptions of the SUV or its driver. The investigation is ongoing.
