BROOKLYN — Six students were hospitalized after a boiler belched smoke into a Brooklyn public school, authorities said.

Emergency responders received a call about 11:17 a.m. from P.S. 41 Francis White, at 411 Thatford Ave., in Brownsville, a fire department spokesman said. Firefighters discovered a smoking boiler when they arrived, a spokesman said.

The six students were taken by ambulance to Brookdale University Hospital for observation, a Department of Education spokeswoman said.

The school was briefly evacuated while firefighters investigated.

"FDNY gave the all clear and students and staff returned to the school," the spokeswoman said.

Parents were notified, she added.
