HARLEM — The MetroCard of Virginia tourist Ian Burnet, who went missing during a New Year's trip to New York, was swiped at a Harlem subway station the day he disappeared, police said Wednesday.

Burnet, 22, traveled from his home in Richmond to the city on Dec. 26 to stay with friends and go to Times Square for New Year's Eve.

He was last last heard from on Dec. 30 when he told a friend he "wasn't having a good experience in New York City."

Police said they are still reviewing security camera footage from the station at 145th Street on the 1 line, where the MetroCard was used.

Friends of Burnet launched a Facebook page dedicated to finding the young man.

Police in Virginia describe Burnet as being about 5-foot-10 and weighing about 160 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call (804) 966-9500.
