MANHATTAN — A man was shot and killed in East Harlem Monday night, police said.

Aaron Collins, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to the torso after police responded to a 911 call at 435 E. 105th St. in the Wilson Houses shortly before 9 p.m., the NYPD said.

Collins, who lived at the address, was transported to Metropolitan Hospital and pronounced dead, police added.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Collins' neighbors described the victim as "quiet" and "respectful."

"It's extremely scary," said his next-door neighbor, Carolyn Pressley, 42. "It hasn't happened for a long time."

The victim's childhood friend, Alfred Reiz, 19, described hearing a series of gunshots Monday night and said the shooting occurred near the building's rear stairwell.

"A lot of this stuff happens around here, but it has to change," said Reiz, who added that Collins often played video games at his house. "All the violence, fighting and shooting — it has to stop."
