Would-be Lower East Side iPhone Thief Hunted By Police

LOWER EAST SIDE — Police are looking for a man who tried to steal an iPhone from a woman on Nov. 29 on the Lower East Side.

The man grabbed an iPhone out of a woman's hand near 54 Rutgers Street about 11:30 a.m. The woman then chased the robber to 38 Rutgers Street where she was able to get her phone back without incident, police said.

The man is described as 20-25 years old, 5 feet 4 inches and weighing 130 pounds. He has a ponytail and was last seen wearing a red and black striped shirt, camouflage pants, red and white sneakers, and a baseball cap.
