MANHATTAN — A drunken city worker was nabbed after he crashed his car into a van in Lower Manhattan early Saturday morning, injuring three people, according to authorities and reports.
Jesse Strauss, 29, who works for the Business Integrity Commission, was going south on South Street around 4:30 a.m. when he crashed into a minivan near Clinton Street, according to the Daily News.
One of the cars careened into a pole, leaving three people injured, including two who were seriously wounded, the FDNY said.
All were taken to Bellevue Hospital.
According to the News, Strauss suffered a broken leg and the driver of the minivan, 53, was also hurt.
Strauss was charged with DWI and aggravated vehicular assault, police said.
The mayor's office did not immediately return a call for comment.
According to the BIC's website, the agency has "oversight of the private carting industry, the businesses operating in the City's public wholesale markets, and the shipboard gambling industry."
In addition to conducting criminal investigations, the BIC issues sanitation and wholesale market licenses and aims to root out organized crime from the industries it oversees, the cite says.
