MIDTOWN — Love the balloons, but hate the crowds at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
A webcam company, which keeps it's eyes peeled on some of Manhattan's most high-profile spots 24-hours-a-day, is giving New Yorkers a new way to experience the parade online.
EarthCam will offer a new, live feed of the parade Thursday using a special "3D BalloonCam" that will capture floating Kermit the Frog, Kung Fu Panda, Spider-Man and SpongeBob SquarePants at eye-level, in their full three-dimensional glory.
Viewers can watch the feed using any pair of traditional, red and blue 3-D glasses, or can make their own glasses using colored cellophane or plastic wrap, colored with blue and red Sharpie pens, using a template, like the one available here.
The feed will also include a standard, 2-D view of the parade, from multiple angles, for those who prefer watching online to TV.
The fun is set to begin here at about 9:30 a.m.
