MANHATTAN — The city has created a website for teenagers to get information on issues including sexual health, bullying and education.

NYC Teen provides educational materials on issues like sexually transmitted diseases and alcohol and drug use and steers teens towards government programs they can utilize.

"NYC Teens is an excellent resource to help teenagers make responsible choices for their futures," said Human Resources Administration Commissioner Robert Doar in a statement. "The site's information sends a strong message that teens giving birth before they are ready to provide emotional and financial support, is not a good way to raise children."

One of the site's main features in on pregnancy prevention, which is the leading cause of young people dropping out of high school, according to the city.

“More and more, our young people are getting all of their information online,” said Youth and Community Development Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav. “NYC Teens will create a one stop shop for everything from jobs and internships to health and wellness. This website will help our young people access the services they need to become healthy and successful adults.”
