MANHATTAN — Lower Manhattan was awash with a burst of color for the Statue of Liberty's 125th Anniversary.

Fireworks exploded over Liberty Island on Friday night, following a day of festivities that included a citizenship ceremony for 125 immigrants from 46 countries.

The celebration also included actress Sigourney Weaver reading Emma Lazarus' famed poem "The New Colossus," which instantly connected the statue to all immigrants coming to the country.

The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on Oct. 28, 1886.
