UPPER MANHATTAN — Rising crime rates, education cuts and a lack of affordable housing are just some of the issues that are on many uptown residents' minds.

In order to determine top priorities in the Washington Heights and Inwood communities, Community Board 12 will hold a public meeting Tuesday to create its annual list of priorities.

Residents are invited to submit their concerns and suggestions for services, projects and proposals for the board to present to the mayor and City Council.

Previous requests have included capital improvements such as funding for educational and elderly home care services, renovated homes for seniors, an increased number of police and a new precinct in Inwood, and more police cars and vans for the district.

The public hearing will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at the community board’s office at 711 W. 168th Street.
