MIDTOWN — Office workers at a Times Square office building got a jolt Tuesday morning when an elevator dropped a floor and a half, injuring one passenger.
The New York City Fire Department said the elevator dropped and briefly trapped passengers at the 33-story Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway. The building's tenants include the Hard Rock Café New York and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
Ambulances and fire crews responded to the situation and got the elevator's three passengers out quickly, according to one of the building's doormen.
Fire officials said one person was taken to hospital with complaints of neck and back pains.
By 11 a.m., fire crews had checked out the faulty lift and all of the building's elevators were operational, the doorman said.
