CHELSEA — The summer may be about to end, but one last chance to enjoy an outdoor movie just pulled into the station.
The High Line will begin a series of free open-air screenings starting Sept. 16, with films that involve the history of trains in cinema — in homage to the High Line's former incarnation as a freight railroad track.
Outdoor film screenings have swept Manhattan parks in recent years, most notably the Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, but most film screenings wrap up by Labor Day.
The High Line showings kick off with a screening of "All Aboard!" — a 28-minute compilation of iconic train scenes from more than 100 movies.
Over the coming weeks, High Line visitors can also catch "Some Like It Hot" and Alfred Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train." Both films will also feature "All Aboard" beforehand.
The movies will be shown at 7:30 p.m on Friday Sept. 16, 23 and 30. They will be held at the 14th Street entrance to the High Line.
