HARLEM — Police are looking for a suspected thief who allegedly tried to rob two Harlem banks last week - but fled empty handed both times.
The first incident happened at the Wells Fargo Bank on Lenox Avenue and 117th Street on Aug. 11 about 5:30 p.m., police said. The man allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money, but left without getting any cash.
The following day the suspect gave a teller a note at a Chase Bank on 125th Street between Manhattan Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. But again, he ran off without getting any money.
Police describe the man as 30-35 years old, about 6-feet tall and 170-200 pounds. He wore sunglasses, a red, green and yellow hat, a yellow T-shirt and dark jeans during the first robbery attempt.
