MANHATTAN — At ground level, those who pass by the World Trade Center site can see a fence, construction equipment and buildings rising from the ruins of Ground Zero.

But a stunning overhead view tells a much different story - less than a month before the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

A series of photographs taken on Aug. 12 shows the reflecting pools and plaza planted with trees.

It also shows the gleaming, glass-covered One World Trade Center soaring above the downtown skyline. Earlier this month, the tower became the tallest building in Lower Manhattan at 78 stories and 961 feet.

Also rising from the site is Tower 4.
