MANHATTAN - Lower Manhattan electronics institution J&R is looking to boost sales by co-naming part of Park Row after the store, a report says.
The shop, which opened in 1971, is hoping to add its name to the thoroughfare between Ann and Beekman streets, according to the New York Post.
"Six hundred jobs are dependent on this," store spokesman Abe Brown said at a Community Board 1 meeting last week, the paper said.
"All over the world, people know our name but they can't associate where it is."
The request was rejected, but Brown wants to press on with the City Council, which has to make the approval.
