MEATPACKING DISTRICT - An architect plummeted to his death from his Meatpacking District apartment Thursday morning in an apparent accident, sources said.

But investigators have not ruled out foul play in the death of the 52-year-old man, whose name was not released pending family notification, another source said.

The victim fell from the second floor of 345 W. 13th St., near Hudson Street, at 10:20 a.m., landing in courtyard behind the building, where he had lived for 12 years with his partner.

No suicide note was found, according to cops.  One source said that his partner was home at the time of the accident and was distraught.

"They are a very happy couple," said the building's super, who did not want to be named.

Officials from the Medical Examiner's Office remove the body of the 52-year-old victim.
