MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A triangular pedestrian plaza across from the Apple Store is seeking a food vendor.

The Chelsea triangle at West 14th Street and Ninth Avenue already has tables and chairs where tourists and residents gather. Soon, it could get a food stall, too.

"We’re not looking for a mobile cart," said Jerome Barth, the vice president of The Chelsea Improvement Company, which issued a request for proposals seeking vendors this week.

"We're open-minded when it comes to finding the right stand," he said.

The triangle is one block away from Chelsea Market and is already flanked by seating at outdoor diners, but Barth said the plaza would still benefit from having a vendor.

"This is part of a bigger movement of transforming public spaces,” said Barth, citing Times Square as a parallel example of reclaiming roadways for leisure.

He said his organization would be open to a wide variety of proposals, and hopes to find a unique idea.

The deadline for proposals is June 10.
