Fire Forces Evacuation of Upper West Side Apartment Building

MANHATTAN — Dozens of people were evacuated from an Upper West Side apartment building Wednesday after fire broke out.

An FDNY spokesman said the blaze broke out at 1 p.m. on the second floor of the 22 story De Hostos aprtment building at 201 West 93rd Street at Amsterdam Avenue, forcing residents in neighboring homes onto the street.

It took nearly 20 minutes for firefighters to bring it under control. No injuries were reported.
