GREENWICH VILLAGE — Gray's Papaya, the famed wiener franchise, is now serving $1 pizza slices in the Village.

According to an employee, the hot dog joint starting slinging out the slices two weeks ago, and judging from the dining room filled with people chowing down, customers are pleased.

"I think it's bangin'," said Danielle Beam, 22, of New Jersey. "It's probably one of the top three best I've had in NYC," Beam added.

Beam's friend agreed, specifically citing the price.

"For a dollar I like it," the friend said.

The shop will compete with 99-cent Fresh Pizza a block away. One loyal customer of that pizza shop said he wouldn't even try Papaya's slices.

Danielle Beam, 22, pictured here eating a slice, enjoyed the pizza.

"I'm going to go with people who know pizza," said Patrick Smith, 21, a student at NYU.

"I just trust their pizza skills a little more," Smith added.
