FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Native Chicagoans, rejoice. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is opening their first New York location in the financial district.

The Chicago sandwich institution is slated to move into 2 Gold Street after signing a 15-year lease with building owner TF Cornerstone, the New York Observer reported Thursday.

"Potbelly Sandwich Shop will be a great fit in the financial district and complement the existing retail tenant mix on Maiden Lane," said Steve Gonzalez, TF Cornerstone manager of retail leasing, in a statement. "With over 30 years of experience in Chicago, we are confident that Potbelly will continue their success with their New York expansion."

Potbelly, which has been around since 1977, will reportedly share space in the building with Pret-A-Manger, Goodburger and Hot Clay Oven.

Besides sandwiches, the eatery offers fresh baked cookies and "super-meaty" chili.
