MANHATTAN — The driver of a Chinatown bus involved in a deadly crash in the Bronx that killed 14 people gave "false statements" on his drivers license application, officials said Thursday.

Ophadel Williams, 40, of Brooklyn, was behind the wheel of a World Wide Tours bus returning to Chinatown from Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut when it flipped on I-95 in the Bronx.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles said Thursday that they turned over information about Williams' driving record to State Police and other authorities investigating the crash.

"The information the DMV is referring for investigation includes driver license applications containing false statements about the status of his license and whether this was done to conceal the fact that he had been using multiple names and had a suspension under one of those names," Howard Glasser, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Director of State Operations, said in a statement. "The investigation is active and ongoing."
