MIDTOWN — The New York City Center is jumping on the iPhone bandwagon with a new App designed to let users buy tickets and find out event information.

"By simplifying the ticket buying process and providing interesting and informative details about our performances and artists, City Center continues to make the performing arts accessible and welcoming to new and existing audiences," City Center CEO Arlene Shuler said in a statement.

All of the City Center performances including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre and the Paul Taylor Dance Company, will have tickets available through iPhones.

Die-hard fans can also catch glimpses of backstage, blogs and artist's profiles through the app, which was released Monday.

Eventually, visitors to the center will be able to scan their tickets through their phones.
