MANHATTAN — A new era in Knicks basketball begins Wednesday night as Carmelo Anthony makes his Madison Square Garden debut against the Milwaukee Bucks.
With Amar'e Stoudemire and Anthony in the starting lineup, New York will have two superstars on the floor for the first time since Walt Frazier and Willis Reed led the team to championships in the 1970s.
"We both were just excited," Stoudemire told the New York Post. "It's going to be great. It’s going to be fun."
Anthony will wear No. 7 when he takes the court. His old number, 15, has been retired by the Knicks for Earl Monroe and Dick McGuire.
Wednesday night's game against the Bucks is sold out. Tickets on reseller StubHub.com are starting at $145 to sit in the nosebleeds.
The Carnegie Deli named a sandwich after Anthony and Knicks fans were hungry to see him in action.
