MURRAY HILL — Two taxi cabs and another car crashed on Lexington Avenue Tuesday afternoon, sending four people to the hospital.

The two cabs were heading south on Lexington Avenue when they collided with a silver Nissan heading west on East 35th Street, officials at the scene said.

"I heard it, and, oh boy, it was like an explosion out there," said Manny Mercado, a doorman at the Murray Hill House at 132 East 35th Street. "I saw the cars flying apart, pieces going and smoke all over the place. It was awful."

The crash took place near Yeshiva University.

Mercado said he saw a passenger get out of one of the cabs holding a bloody nose.  One of the drivers got out of the car with a limp, he said.
