GREENWICH VILLAGE - A small fire broke out on the roof of a Chase Bank near NYU Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

The call came in for the fire at 340 Sixth Ave. at 2:37 P.M., FDNY officials said, and the blaze was under control a half-hour later.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

West 4th Street was closed to street traffic between Sixth Avenue and Washington Square West while firefighters battled the blaze.

Officials at the scene said garbage appeared to have caught fire on the roof. The cause of the blaze was not immediately known, officials said.
