LINCOLN CENTER — Fashionistas weren't going to let a little holiday like Valentine's Day get between them and the tents at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Monday.
Models, attendees, and bloggers were all focused on the trends and couture rather than roses and chocolates, and few seemed to have firm plans to celebrate.
"I'm here on Valentine's Day spending time with my other family, my Maybelline family," said international model Erin Wasson, who lives in the East Village. "But of course I would love to be lying in bed having eggs, bacon, and a mimosa and watching a bad movie with my man."
Others in the tents were looking forward to spending the holiday with friends they love.
"I have a hotel room, so I'll invite some girlfriends over and we'll watch a movie and have some cocktails," said Rose Mazzola, a spokesmodel for Pepsi who broke up with her boyfriend four days ago. "I'm definitely getting a big heart-shaped box of chocolates to say 'I love myself!'"
Out-of-towners were excited to have a girls night together.
"We're going to the early shows this afternoon and then we're going to celebrate together by going out to dinner with other friends," said Gabriela Valenzuela of her plans with pal Eiman Hamza, both boutique owners from Los Angeles.
Some in the tents had plans with their significant others for the evening.
"I'm going to some shows and we have a pop-up salon here at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, so we're putting a lot of love on people's nails!" said Essie Weinberg, the CEO of Essie Cosmetics and Upper East Side resident.
"But tonight my husband is surprising me by taking me to one of my favorite restaurants."
A Valentine's Day runway show was one lucky lady's gift from her boyfriend, along with red roses and chocolates.
"My boyfriend is taking me to see the Tracy Reese show, and it's my first time at Fashion Week, so I'm really excited!" said Vashni Balleste, a student from upstate New York.
"This is our first Valentine's Day together and it's so incredible to be spending it at Fashion Week."
