MANHATTAN — A bicyclist was in critical condition after being struck by a drunk driver in Midtown Friday night, police said.

The 28-year-old deliveryman was travelling north on Eighth Avenue, between West 47th and 48th Streets around 10:17 p.m., when he was hit from behind by a 2001 Lexus and then thrown underneath a double-parked BMW, the NYPD said.

The driver of the Lexus, identified as Midtown resident Clark Gettinger, 40, fled the scene but was apprehended by police three blocks north of the accident scene, the department said.

Now, Gettinger, who is listed among the former clients of infamous ponzi-schemer Bernard Madoff, is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Vehicular Assault and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

On his LinkedIn profile, Gettinger describes himself as president of a real estate company called Gettinger Management, LLC.

The injured bicyclist was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
