MANHATTAN — Rudy Giuliani is planning another presidential run, the New York Post reported Friday.

The former law and order mayor believes he has a chance to land the most powerful job on the planet as a centrist candidate, the paper reported.

Giuliani "thinks the Republican race will be populated with far-right candidates like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, and there's opportunity for a moderate candidate with a background in national security," a source told the Post.

But even those close to the former mayor think the run may be a bad idea.

"They think this is crazy," a source told the Post. "They realize how long the odds are, but they are standing by.”

Other sources reportedly said he is eyeing the run as way into a cabinet position or vice presidential bid.

The run may also be a reaction to Giuliani’s faltering private-sector work.

"Nobody is paying $100,000 to hear the same warmed-over 9/11 speech. His speaking fees have dropped as well as his consulting fees," a source told the Post.
