MANHATTAN — Alternate side parking will be suspended on Tuesday to aid in the ongoing garbage collection efforts since last week's blizzard, according to the Department of Transportation.

Regular trash pickup, which was suspended last week for blizzard cleanup, resumed Monday.

"A big chunk of the sanitation department is back cleaning up the piles of garbage that just had to pile up during the week because we were plowing," Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters during a press conference in Brooklyn on Monday.

"It will take a few days to catch up, but they're out there today. And hopefully in the next three to four days it will all be done."
