MANHATTAN — The Jets lost to the Chicago Bears Sunday, but still won a place in the playoffs.

Gang Green fell to the NFC North champs, 38-34, at Soldier Field, but thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars losing to the Washington Redskins in overtime, the 10-5 Jets backed into the postseason anyway.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for 269 yards and a touchdown, but a late interseption on a pass to wide receiver Santonio Holmes killed the Jets chances of coming back to win.

The Bears, 11-4, needed the win to help secure a first-round bye in the playoffs.

The Jets will likely be the sixth seed in the AFC playoffs, the New York Post reported.

That could put them up against the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason, the paper said..
