Firefighters Hurt in Chinatown Blaze

CHINATOWN — A fire ripped through a Chinatown building Friday, leaving residents homeless and injuring six firefighters.

More than 100 firefighters spent  an hour struggling to get the blaze, in a five-story apartment building on Oliver St., under control.

It broke out at 5.20 p.m., authorities said.

The New York Daily News said six firefighters suffered minor injuries, and about ten apartments were destroyed.

The cause is under investigation.
