MANHATTAN — Democratic Assemblyman Richard Gottfried was reelected and will continue serving District 75, representing Chelsea, Clinton, Murray Hill, Midtown and some blocks near Lincoln Center.

A spokesperson for Gottfried's Manhattan office said Tuesday night that there was "no contest" and Gottfried "will win."

The chair of the Assembly's health committee, Gottfried was originally elected to the Assembly at age 23 in 1970, according to his Assembly member page.

Gottfried's Republican opponent, Michael Chan, is a former assistant professor of economics at New York University and faculty member at Manhattan College, according to his campaign website.

Gottfriend had 83 percent of the vote to Chan's 17 percent with 79 percent of precincts reporting.
