EAST HARLEM — A drug rehabilitation clinic was evacuated Thursday morning after bricks fell off the back of the building's façade.

A four-foot high section of brick spanning the width of the building fell from the top story into an alley behind the Addiction Research & Treatment Corporation at 2195 Third Avenue about 8:15 a.m., according to firemen on the scene. The FDNY arrived about 8:20 a.m. and inspected the building finding no initial interior damage and no one injured.

"Over a year ago the whole building shook," said Regina Jennings, a therapist who works at the center. "This is the second time this has happened."

The DOB website also lists a complaint on Oct. 3, 2008, for the "building shaking."

The Department of Buildings inspects the damage.

There was violation given after inspectors found that the building's stability was not affected.

The DOB inspected the structure again Thursday and issued property owner Affiliated SVC & ETAL a violation for failure to maintain the exterior wall, department spokeswoman Jennifer Gilbert said.
