CHELSEA — A gunman opened fire in a packed diner early Saturday, killing one man and causing panic among customers.
Police said a fight between two groups of men at the Good Stuff Diner at 109 West 14th Street near Sixth Avenue erupted into gunfire at about 4.45 a.m.
The eatery, a popular spot with revelers spilling out of nearby clubs and bars, was full of customers at the time.
"I heard boom, boom, boom, and then came out into the restaurant and saw everyone running and screaming," Bruce Angel, who works in the restaurant's kitchen, told the Daily News.
"It was like a scary movie. Blood was all over. I ran back into the kitchen to protect myself."
Police said Corey Scott, 28, from Flatbush, was shot three times in the back and twice in the back of the head. He died instantly.
Investigators were reportedly looking into whether Scott was killed over money he owed his victims.
Scott was on parole after serving a little over a year in prison on second-degree robbery charges, according to prison records.
The New York Post reported Scott had also been stabbed in 2007, and was acquitted six year ago of brutally beating a 57-year-old man to death and offering cash to keep witnesses quiet.
He also appeared in YouTube videos bragging about his car and waving around wads of cash.
"The bottom line is this," he said in one video. "This is a lot of (expletive) money."
He also bragged in the video, "I'm selling guns."
Police told the Daily News surveillance video taken inside the diner showed Scott and several friends confronting a group sitting in the back.
Moments later, shots were fired.
