MANHATTAN — New Yorkers should try not to be alarmed when Grand Central Terminal is flooded with police, firefighters and other emergency workers on Saturday morning.
Metro-North and a host of city and state agencies will be holding their annual emergency preparedness exercise beginning at 9 a.m. this weekend to test their ability to mobilize and respond to a train crash.
Train service will not be affected, but the MTA promises "an exceptional number of police officers, firefighters, emergency medical responders and ambulances in and around the terminal."
The test will also feature 30 people posing as victims for the exercise, including two who will need to be transported to hospital, according to the MTA.
The participants won't know the exact scenario until it begins.
The exercise is required by federal law.
