SOHO — A team of four Parsons students won a free trip to Paris Wednesday for taking the top spot in a conceptual art design competition involving the refashioning of thousands of dollars worth of Louis Vuitton fabric samples.

"Oh my god!" the winning students screamed at the same time, jumping up and down as their design project, a multifunctional blanket, hung from the ceiling of the Louis Vuitton store in SoHo.

The team, called "Time Travel," beat out five other four-person teams with their creation, which was assembled using shredded, sliced and patched fabrics varying in color from black, purple and blue.

Each team had one week to create the design and only a day to execute it.

The competition was very intense, said Simon Collins, dean of the school of fashion at Parsons, because of the pressure and time constraints involved.

"There were tantrums, there were makeups and breakups," he said.

"There was blood. There's always blood," Collins added, referring to a young woman who had accidentally injured herself while constructing a blanket.

The judges included fashion designer Patricia Field, Style.com executive editor Nicole Phelps and Louis Vuitton senior vice president Geoffroy van Raemdonck.

The winning group was comprised of Emily Hudson, 20, Zachary Clark, 21, Janelle Abbott, 20, and Willie Norris, 20.

The winning conceptual art blanket was created by "Time Travel," a group of four Parsons The New School for Design students.
