Police Searching for Missing Elderly East Harlem Man with Alzheimer's Disease

EAST HARLEM — Police are searching for an 82-year-old East Harlem man with Alzheimer's disease who wandered off on Oct. 6

William Rivera, who also goes by "Willie," was last seen on 111th Street in East Harlem between 11 a.m. and noon last week, police said.

Rivera is described 5-foot-7 and weighing 150 pounds with brown eyes, a mustache, goatee and a scar above his left eye, police said. He has a medium complexion and gray hair with some balding. He speaks both English and Spanish.

Rivera was last seen wearing a blue jacket, gray slacks, a white T-shirt, white sneakers, and a blue and white Yankees cap, police said.

Rivera is enrolled in the MedicAlert/Alzheimer’s Association Safe Return Program. His Safe Return number is 282422. He is not wearing his bracelet, but any leads or sightings can be called into the Safe Return program at 1-800-572-1122 or 1-800-625-3780.
