MANHATTAN — The New York Giants defense looked like the Monsters for the Midway as they dominated the Chicago Bears in a 17-3 win at the Meadowlands on Sunday night.

The Giants defense pummelled the Bears quarterbacks all night, recording 10 sacks and knocking starter Jay Cutler and his back up Todd Collins out of the game.

"We just came out tonight and forgot about what all the people were saying about us and got back to having fun on the football field," Defensive lineman Jason Tuck told the Associated Press.

New York held the punchless Bears to six first downs, force three turnovers and didn't allow Chicago to convert any of its 13 third-down attempts. The 10 sacks were two shy of an NFL record shared by several teams, including when the Giants sacked Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb 12 times in 2007.

Tuck and teammate Osi Umenyora each had three sacks on Sunday night for a Giants defense that was playing without starters Mathias Kiwanuka and Keith Bullock.

Ahmad Bradshaw led the Giants offense with 129 yards rushing and a touchdown. Brandon Jacobs added a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for a New York offense that sputtered in the first half.

The Giants offense struggled to move the chains in the opening half and put only three points on the board despite being handed good field position by the defense.

"It’s fun to watch our defense when they are doing that," Giants quarterback Eli Manning told reporters. "When they get the sacks, it gets the crowd fired up. They set the tempo early on in the game, played outstanding. We had to help them out sometime and we did a decent job."

The Giants sacked Cutler nine times in the first half and intercepted him once. Cutler did not come back out to the field in the third quarter after being diagnosed with a concussion. Back up Todd Collins left the game in teh fourth quarter with a stinger.
