MANHATTAN — The "Miracle on the Hudson" will officially get its Hollywood ending.
Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger optioned the movie rights to his book "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters" about his amazing landing in the Hudson River last year, the New York Post reported Friday.
Sullenberger was forced to make the crash landing after U.S. Airways flight 1549 hit a flock of geese during takeoff from La Guardia on Jan. 15, 2009.
He calmly radioed back to air traffic control after hitting the birds that his Airbus A320 lost both engines and he was going to have to ditch in the Hudson.
The captain then glided the plane down into the frigid river, landing the craft on its belly in the frigid water and saving all 155 passengers.
Sullenberger reportedly decided to turn the story into a feature film after speaking with Harrison Ford at an aviation event.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
