MANHATTAN — The Egyptian-born businessman who helped purchase the buildings that may one day house the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque," reneged on his previous offer to sell the abandoned structures, according to an interview with MYFOXNY.com.

Hisham Elzanaty, 51, who provided more than $5 million dollars to buy the Park Place buildings, according to Fox, had expressed eagerness to sell the them.

“I’m a businessman. This was a mere business transaction for me,” Elzanaty reportedly said.

“Develop it, raze it, sell it. If someone wants to give me 18 or 20 million dollars today, it’s all theirs.”

However in his recent Fox interview, Elzanaty said he was committed to the project.

"I will not walk away from this," the businessman told Fox. "I have given it to the community and I will not take it back."

'Mosque' developers rejected a previous offer from Real Estate mogul Donald Trump to buy the buildings.
