MANHATTAN - Police are looking for two men in connection to a string of bank robberies across Manhattan, from SoHo to East Harlem.
The latest robbery occurred just before noon on Thursday, when police say Jose Soto, 45, and Javier Marrero, 20, held up a Wachovia Bank at Broadway and Grand Street in SoHo.
Earlier in the week, they struck a Chase Bank on Delancey Street at Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side on Monday at roughly 10 a.m., police said.
An hour earlier, police said Soto robbed a Chase Bank by himself on the Bowery at Bleecker Street in the East Village.
Soto is also wanted for two earlier robberies, police said. The first occurred on Aug. 19 at a Chase Bank on 125th Street in East Harlem, the NYPD said. The second occurred a day later down in NoHo at a Capital One Bank on Lafayette Street between Kenmare and Broome streets, according to police.
In the three incidents where Soto allegedly acted alone, he approached the teller and demanded cash, police said. After receiving an unspecified amount of cash, he fled on foot, police said.
In the two other robberies, Soto allegedly would demand cash from the teller with Marrero standing next to him, police said, but in those incidents, the men fled before getting money.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
