UPPER MANHATTAN — A tree fell onto the southbound lane of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan snarling traffic during the Monday morning rush.
The Department of Transportation cleared the tree, which fell between the Dyckman Street and George Washington Bridge exits, by 10:15 a.m., roughly an hour after it fell.
The fallen tree is the latest in a series of downed timbers in Manhattan this year.
On February 25, a falling tree limb struck and killed a man as he was walking through Central Park.
On May 31, three women were taken to the hospital after a tree branch fell on top of them near the Boathouse in Central Park.
A sixth-month-old baby girl died on June 26 from yet another falling tree branch in Central Park and on August 9, two trees fell in Inwood Park, a delayed result of a July 25 tornado.
The DOT did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the tree that fell onto the highway.
