UPPER MANHATTAN — A 15-year-old Washington Heights girl has been found alive after searchers spent nearly three weeks looking for her.

Nathy Perez returned to her mother's house on August 12 after running away from home on July 26, a police spokesman said. She had told her mother she was going to a party that night, but did not return home.

A source familiar with her case said the teen had experienced a "traumatic experience," but could not elaborate on its nature, reported the Manhattan Times.

Nathy Perez missing from Manhattan, NY, has been recovered,” read a comment left on August 12 by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children on Help Find My Child, a website that lists missing children.

Signs asking for help locating her were posted throughout Washington Heights and Inwood during the three weeks she was missing.
