TIMES SQUARE — Yankees fans looking for cheap last minute tickets should head to the Bronx via Broadway as of today after a new ticket booth opened at noon in Times Square.

The Yankees are partnering with Modell’s Sporting Goods to provide same-day discounted tickets. A ticket booth will be located in the Times Square Modell’s at 234 West 42nd Street, between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue.

"It's a great opportunity for a family that can't afford a full-price ticket," said former Yankee slugger Tino Martinez before the ticket booth opened.

Martinez greeted a crowd of around 50 eager fans a little after noon hoping to buy tickets for Monday's game.

"Of all the teams to get to the playoffs the Yankees are the best at getting through them," said Lou Borenstein, 26, about the team's chances this year while waiting for tickets.

Borenstein came up from his Greenwich Village home to wait in line Monday afternoon. He said he could afford to spend up to $50 for tickets.

An average Yankees ticket runs $69 — the fourth highest in the league — according to a weekly study by SeatGeek.com. The Yankee’s website has their cheapest day-of-game tickets listed at $5, though there were none available as of 9:30 a.m. Monday for the day’s game.

Tickets bought at Times Square will be limited to four per person and can be purchased starting at 8:00 a.m. for day games and 12:00 p.m. for night games.

Monday's options ranged from $300 field level tickets reduced to $150 on the high end, and $95 main level seats reduced to $45 on the low end.

Yankees fans will be able to buy day-of-game tickets in Times Square starting Monday, August 16.
