MANHATTAN — What was Amar'e Stoudemire's first international trip after signing a max contract with the Knicks earlier this month?

According to his Twitter account, Israel.

The star said he headed to Israel to study Hebrew. “It’s time 2 get a better understanding on who we R. Follow me!! Shalom,” Stoudemire tweeted.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Stoudemire became interested in learning Hebrew after learning he had a Jewish mother.

The paper also said Israelis were hoping to see Stoudemire on the Israeli national team one day.

Stoudemire, for his part, tweeted that he was just enjoying his time in Jerusalem.

“Jerusalem is a beautiful city, I'm at a cafe eating a late lunch. I'm learning Hebrew by the min. Keep up !! Shalom” he tweeted.
